West Corridor

The LaVilla area has a rich history as a town that grew around a railroad hub and became the center of African American culture and nightlife, earning the moniker “Harlem of the South.” LaVilla is undergoing a revitalization that includes new residential and business development, coupled with park and trail amenities.

The West Corridor follows the existing Skyway route along Bay Street to the current Jefferson station and JTA’s new Jacksonville Regional Transportation Center (JRTC).

The JRTC station area was selected for further analysis in Phase II of the study. Watch the virtual meeting video and view the slide deck describing the proposed TOD framework for this area.
